Welcome to the inner workings of the mind of Edward Anthony Mason Cullen.

Maggie and Nico are here to probe every nook & cranny of this long-awaited tome, excessively dwelling on the scientific implications of mind-reading, whether love can conquer all in dysfunctional relationships, whether Edward really is an irredeemable creep, and so much more.

CORRECTION: Maggie refers to Edward and Carlisle as “East coast elites.” In fact Carlisle is British, and Edward is from Chicago.

Tons to discuss in the Twilight saga's bizarre denoument. Nico explains how the visible light spectrum could differ between humans and vampires. We delve further into the Cullens' relationship dynamics, and Maggie explores how Twilight is ~actually~ an allegory for queerness. Plus, Nico finally, totally, completely loses his shit in a way no one (or everyone?) could have predicted.

Teen marriage, vampire abortion, the nitty-gritty of Imprinting– Breaking Dawn goes there, and we have no choice but to follow. Maggie continues comparing Nico to Edward, to Nico's extreme chagrin. Maggie also details her real-life experience as the only girl in an all-male "wolf pack," and how that experience compares to Leah's.

"I've never been more emotionally effected by a book in my life."

Eclipse is both the best and the worst book in the Twilight Saga. It's the emotional climax of the series, and also the most problematic. We talk about all the reasons why, and do a deep-dive into the real life Quileute legends and how Stephenie Meyer's version stacks up. PLUS Maggie makes her final ruling in the Team Edward vs. Jacob debate (Nico continues to despise Edward).

This is a fascinating conversation with author Lindsay Eagar about the Mormon influences in The Twilight Saga. We dive deep into the Mormon belief system, sex, virginity, gender roles, and how Mormonism can explain why Twilight is SUCH A WEIRD STORY. Lindsay shares so many incredible insights into this religion that clearly shaped Stephenie Meyer's brain. Be sure to stick around till the end, where Lindsay gives some profound insights into the vulnerability and superpowers of motherhood.

The Creeps talk Spanish Influenza vibes, breakup best practices, whether New Moon is the bravest book ever written (spoiler: it is) if Edward had a blog, and so much more! Nico was especially clueless and old man-like this week, which was truly a treat. Thanks for tuning in and making us part of your COVID-19 experience. Stay safe, creeps.
